Nadaresh thrusts the dagger toward the well of souls and a black smoke emits from the onyx set into the pommel of the dagger. A low moan like a mournful chorus sung through a heavy curtain fills the  room.  The smoke is pulled towards the floating orb of the well of souls and forms a large whirlpool with the orb in its center. As the smoke spirals in, faces both familiar and foreign form in the wisps and vanish only to be replaced with another and another. Many faces are twisted in anguish others in relief but all disappear when the smoke that forms them is pulled into the floating orb.  After several minutes the dagger has emptied its cargo into the orb and it is silent again. The orb is unchanged and the dagger appears as thirsty as a dagger may.

After releasing the souls from the dagger into the well, the travel back from the temple is quiet. Each character is lost in though considering what they have witnessed.
