Rolan: Half-Elf Paladin

Rolan is from a midsized city where he was raised by his human mother, Endwyne.  Raised as a human amongst the townspeople, besides his ageless looks he was barely aware of his elven heritage.  His mother did not mention much of his father, only telling him that he was dead, and that he was named after him.  He stayed with his mother and worked as a groom at a stable.  He took care of her until she eventually died.

Shortly after her death he was visited by Luthain, his father's brother, who informs him that his father was a trueblooded elf and a knight of Tymora.  He died while on a campaign with Luthain to keep order in a nearby forest.  Luthain offers to send Rolan to a monastery of Tymora.  Rolan excepts the offer as he does not have much holding him in his home city.  After completing his training (mostly by Luthain) he decides to travel abroad.  Luthain gave Rolan his father's old armor and sent him on his way.

Trying to be as good a his father was, he is now seeking out to help the weak, and fight injustice wherever he can find it.

Walking through Kings row in Brix  Rolan sees the squalor in which these poor folks live. Thugs and pickpockets line the streets. Rolan turns a corner and comes upon a scene which at first warms his heart. A small group of white robed humans is passing out cups of dried rice and beans to feed the people. The leader of the group is preaching but the content of the sermon ruins the moment.

((pm sent regarding character...looking for a little help asap))
"The raven's are gathering only the serpant can protect you. The ravens are the heralds of the comming storm come children come flock to the embrace of the Serpant."

These sorts of groups dont follow proper deities rather they are usually just unwitting dupes. Cults serve to gather followers for some infernal or diabolic being trying to accumulate enough followers to assume the mantle of divinity.

Whether there are ghosts in that house is not for me to say! But, there are far more dangerous things than ghosts.

Rolan is skeptical at first but comes to realize quickly that Union of the Snake does great work.  They feed and cloth the poor, provide a sence of community, and do more for the commoner than most church or state. In addition they have more than a few available young maids as members. Deciding to join their ranks Rolan redeacates himself to the union. He can be found wearing the robes of the cult passing out bread in the poorer districts of Brix.
