Is the Saga edition the one they put out a year or two ago thats somewhat like 4th ed?

Yes, it's (mechanically) almost identical. If you're familiar with 4th ed, you're pretty much able to play Saga.

Yes, the game is still going; however, the table is now full (at least, as full as I'm able to handle).
