Title: Savage Worlds: Looking for some feedback

Some old gaming buddies and I are considering trying out the Savage Worlds gaming system.  Has anyone out there tried this system?  What do you think?  What are the good points and what are the bad?

It's a little spendy to make the jump to a new gaming system, and I want to know if it is worth it in this case.

Kevin has been reading up on it and seems to like it.

I have some PDFs that were part of the Haiti relief bundle and similar. Mainly I don't see the point of a new system unless I'm making my own.

I'm always looking for a "More Perfect" game.  Or a game that will fit certain genres better.

Do you know what style of game it works well with?  In particular I've been wondering about the magic system.  Good magic systems are so hard to come by.
